Projects worked on

 

DNV and Germanisher Lloyd merger - Both companies operate in the Maritime, Oil and Gas, Renewable Energy sectors. Engagement was to represent Germanischer Lloyd as the primary network architect. Interfaced into a similar role in DNV as part of the merger core team. As the companies were merging the networks had to be firstly interconnected and then Germanisher Lloyds network changed to DNV standards. I engaged with the business and the technical teams to discover the Germanischer Lloyd network landscape, design and cost the required changes to migrate the sites to DNV standards. Prepared scripts and support engineering resources to stage and deploy the new equipment. During deployment implemented many global sites, ensuring all network (LAN, WLAN and ASA Firewalls) access rules, firewall rules were correctly applied, troubleshooting any issues on a global basis. I also undertook the task of developing bespoke solutions to specific demanding site requirements..

I was engaged by CGI to backfill a presales role within their outsource contracts team. Engaged with a number of their current clients who were investigating and costing out conract renewals and hardware refresh - this incorporated the specification of new physical and virtualised servers, storage, LAN and WAN's

I was enagaged by Bluefish to provide design services to one of Vodafone's corporate clients - EDF Energy. The engagement developed into a major project engagement where all of EDF's Secure Sites (offices and Nuclear Power Stations) plus some non-accredited power stations were refreshed - LAN, WAN, Telephony and a new Meraki WiFi solution was implemented. The project was completed on time and under budget.

My engagement was then extended to provide design skills within the Nuclear New Build team.

I was engaged by MECS/ Tata Communications Services to provide design skills into Nationa Grid - the new Datacentre Project for Electicity.

 

British Telecom

Solution Architect working on large, complex outsource contracts (>10M $) such as;

 

Global Pharmaceutical - contract schedule re-negotiation and re-sign

Bid for an innovative new European wide IT system.

Account CTO for a Global household name in the Consumer Packaged Goods sector - responsible for Design/ Deployment teams and innovation

Global Petrolchem - consolidation and re-design of OSS/ BSS systems to enable single view of acquired infrastructure. Enablement for additional business.

Led design team for a major global company (Asia Pac region) outsource.

Led design and delivery team for a UK Publishing company outsource.

Designed, delivered, supported and developed a 4000+ site, global network for a staffing company.

 

Also worked on numerous 'high executive visibility' internal projects

Architecture reference models - for WAN, LAN, Voice, BYOD, Cloud

'Own Use' Initiative - BT using the products its sells - 1st phase was Lync.

 

A Cisco Professional Services partner where the following projects were completed :

  • Major mobile phone Company in Ireland: Upgrading the MPLS network, implementing QoS, regression testing and deployment of new ‘corporate’ services.

  • Pan European Cable Company: Technical Team Leader (8 network technicians) baseline network audit – 8 countries.

  • Technical assistance to a 3rd party Business consultancy: assessment of the market conditions, current capabilities and provide ideas for potential business opportunities to an incumbent Telecoms provider in Romania who wished to enter a new market.

  • UK Telecom: Company – Re-design of their GPRS backbone to migrate to the MPLS core and Team leader (4 people) Design, staging, implementation and user migration of a large campus MAN.

  • Pan European Cable Company (working on Dutch section) – Team leader (7 network technicians) full network audit – this initiative spun off new business worth € 4 M.

  • Dutch ISP (venture capital start-up): Core backbone design of a new fibre based, ‘Fibre to the Home’ network.

  • Large European ISP – Team leader (2 people) for the low level design of new Cyber Centre initiative.

  • European ISP: pre stage and fully test the new UK MPLS network.
